NEW Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Soft Matte Hydra Foundation
When trying out a new foundation I have learned my lesson and always ask for a sample to take home so I can test it over a few days. I am a huge Double Wear fan so when I heard about the New Double Wear Light Soft Matte Hydra Foundation I had to get my hands on it. This modern new formula is available in 28 shades which seem to correspond to the original Double Wear shades so, for example, I wear 2W1 Dawn so I picked up said shade in the New DW Light also. So what does this new hybrid of foundation claim to do?

I first applied this with a damp beauty blender as I do all my foundations. I found that it gave little to no coverage whatsoever. It has a sticky/tacky texture that doesn’t seem to set at all. I don’t find that it is buildable and it’s tricky to blend. It left my skin looking patchy and greasy. The old DW Light was perfect as it was, why do companies feel the need to change something really good to fit in with this new era of hybrid foundations. Not everyone wants super light, barely-there makeup. There are some die-hard full coverage gals out there including me, who want their foundation to be just that, foundation! I dread to think what they might do to the beloved original DW! because I tell you what, they touch that formula and there will be a mutiny! Double Wear is a cult classic and has been for years, it’s the number 1 foundation in the UK.
I’m all for bringing out new formulas to suit the Millennials or what have you but don’t replace a nation’s favourite. It’s not fair to those who have been loyal to the brand for years.
I will not be purchasing the full size of this foundation that’s for certain. Watch my video below to see a full day’s wear test.
[…] even so, I didn’t feel it applied particularly well either. It’s very similar to the Estee Lauder Hydra Matte Foundation in that it imparts a sticky, finish which I think is primarily due to the fact it has […]
