MORNING RITUALS & NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS
I Savour my morning coffee and a quiet moment to reflect on the day ahead. It’s in the little moments that we find joy. I truly believe that. We all make fickle resolutions in the New Year like ‘drinking more water’, that’s a given, isn’t it? How about some substantial changes and sticking with them? For me, consistency is key to change, developing a routine of waking up at the same time each morning and beating resistance to work by avoiding distraction which is hard for me. I work from home so essentially I can make my own hours which left to my own devices can be either relatively productive or a complete waste of a day. I schedule the gym for at least three times a week which, to be honest, I drag myself to some mornings but I always remind myself of how I will feel afterward as appose to not going at all. Start as you mean to go on. That’s my motto for 2018. Additionally, I would like to work on saying ‘NO’ to commitments that do not serve me without feeling an overwhelming guilt. This habitual people pleasing has got to come to an end at some point. We all have inner battles with ourselves some more than others and that is ok. Do not compare yourself to others. I’m sure we are all guilty of that one. I can literally ruin my whole day by looking at social media and concluding to myself that everything I’ve worked for is pointless, not good enough, not going anywhere etc because of the number of subscribers someone else has. It’s a competitive arena, I’m not going to lie but there is plenty of room for all of us to succeed. Don’t be afraid of being different, that’s what makes you, YOU! Lastly, keep going. Don’t stop because you think you have failed or haven’t reached your “goal” Try, try and try again. Seek to do what you love, what ignites a flame in you? If you could do one thing and be paid for it, what would that be?
