Hello January

First and foremost, Happy New Year to you! I hope you have had a good Christmas.

On my glorious frosty walk this morning as numerous joggers passed me by, my thoughts on January compelled me to write this post. There seems to be this collective obsession to join a gym, eat salads, get fit, run, make resolutions, go, go ,go! For me January is a time for slow living, eating hearty soups and stews, reading, walking in nature, taking things at a slow pace. You have the rest of the year to be all in, on it, doing it. The festive season is so busy already for most, visiting loved ones, taking kids on days out, all the activities that go along with that time of year. You get a few days in-between where you don’t know what day it is and you are just waiting for New Years Eve which I must admit is my least favourite because I just don’t like staying up late and the anticipation makes me anxious for some reason and then when it hits midnight and Old Lang Syne is being sung, I get oddly emotional and just grateful that I and everyone dear to me is alive and well. I love New Years Day, the fresh start of the year, back to routine ( I am someone who really likes my daily routine ) and I’m sure many of you feel the same.

So for me, I will not be hitting the gym or starting some fad diet, I will be taking things slow and steady this month, eating mindfully and seasonally. Enjoying a lovely cup of coffee in the Winter sunshine, reading, listening to podcasts, giving my skin a glow boosting pamper, taking a break from gel nails, working on my blog and YouTube Channel and being utterly comfortable with who I am right now. January is a long month which I welcome because it seems to be the only time where time doesn’t wizz by in a blink of an eye. I feel calm and grounded and safe in the knowledge that what I’m doing is more than enough.

How do you feel about January? Does anything I say resonate with you? and what would you like to see from me this year?

All the best

Shaz x
