From Desk to Dancefloor in 5 Easy Steps

Hello lovelies! It’s that time of year again where Christmas drinks and parties are upon us. So I’ve put together five super easy steps to glam up your work face and be party ready in no time!

I know the feeling, you’ve been up since 6am, your face has gone through near enough nine hours already with makeup clinging on for dear life. You’ve got dinner and drinks after work or a last minute catch up with a friend. You need to freshen up that face pronto!
If you are anything like me in the morning the less I have to do the better! For me its the basics: foundation, concealer, powder, blush, mascara and lipstick. I don’t do eyeshadow for work because I frankly can’t be bothered nor do I have the time to spare.

Now be careful, what you don’t want to do is go and pile on a load more makeup and look like a cakeface or worse unrecognisable to your colleagues! I know Ive made these heinous mistakes
I remember going for dinner with the bf and his old uni friends that I had never met before,  I’m at work putting on more lippy and blush and one of the Partners of the firm said to me  ” look at you tarting yourself up” I was mortified! Honestly I don’t think I ever touched up my makeup again after that. You really want to only touch up what has disappeared so lips are one of the first to go, then around the nose and mouth. If you are going to a party or drinks play up either your eyes or your lips and add a touch of highlight on your cheekbones and et voila you are ready to party.

Step 1. Freshen up your base. I remember girls taking off all their makeup and starting again from scratch! Ain’t nobody got time for that! Blot any oil or excess product that has melted away on your face, spritz with a hydrating facial spray, then lightly powder your T-zone. Choose a long wearing foundation. I use Estee Lauder Doublewear and this does not need touching up at all! If you don’t have a long wearing foundation, touch up with a smidgen of concealer or a powder foundation as this will have a bit of coverage rather than just translucent powder.

Step 2. Add some colour. If your blush has faded add the tiniest amount of you what you used that morning use with a stippling brush for the lightest touch, less is more trust me!

Step 3. Highlight those cheekbones and under you brow bone.

Step 4. Eyes: Line with black Kohl and smudge out for a quick smokey effect. Or dab some sparkle pigment on the centre of you lid for a bit of glitz!

Step 5. Lips: Line and fill in your lips, pop on your fave lippie and gloss.

Finish with a final spritz of your favourite setting spray and away you go!

This isn’t by any means rules to abide by, it is just what I have tried and works best on me.

What are your tips and tricks for getting face ready after work?
